There are times when Bob Costas can be pretentious. Then there are those times when the Holy Diminutive One pulls a joke poking fun at himself. During today’s coverage of the 141th Preakness Stakes on NBC, Carolyn Manno was in the infield at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore as the group The Chainsmokers were entertaining people. Carolyn mentioned that unlike their name, the band was nicotine-free, but she couldn’t speak for those in the audience.
It was then where the quick-witted Costas pulled out a very funny line and brought some laughter to the NBC staffers off-camera:

“Ya know, Caroline, I never smoked. I heard it could … stunt your growth. Why take a chance?” Sometimes Costas shows that he can have a sense of humor on his height.
