Many people across the country threw out their brackets after the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament. I mean, they don’t call it March Madness for no reason.
You might have had Michigan State, who improbably lost in their first game of the tournament. You could have bought into the hype and picked Cal to go deep or Virginia to break past the barrier that was the Elite Eight. You might have even picked Kentucky to make another deep run and understandably so.
The odds are you had at least one of those teams. Very few people actually had the correct Final Four teams, according to ESPN PR’s Bill Hofheimer:
Just 1140 entries (.009%) of the 13+ million ESPN #TournamentChallenge brackets correctly picked the #FinalFour. #UNC #Cuse #Sooners #Nova

I wasn’t a math major, but that’s a pretty low percentage. To have Oklahoma, Villanova, and North Carolina isn’t necessarily outrageous by any means, but to have Syracuse of all teams in there is the big surprise.
In the ESPN Tournament Challenge, there are three brackets that are tied atop of challenge. Two of them are safe to assume they belong to Syracuse fans with brackets named “LENNY_CUSE” and “Orange Crush”, both having the Orange winning the title. The third bracket, named “Kevin moll” has the Tar Heels taking home the trophy.
It’s not out of the ordinary for fans of certain teams to make brackets that have their actual picks, and then your “in an ideal world” bracket. Those folks have to be feeling pretty good about themselves right about now. They are definitely in a class of their own.
