You may recall Adam “Pacman” Jones had some very candid thoughts on the controversial ending to the Bengals playoff loss to the Steelers. Fast forward to today where Jones went on Inside The NFL for an interview with Brandon Marshall to further articulate his thoughts on the end of the game. Jones had alleged that Brown was faking being hurt and deserved a “Grammy” for his acting.
Given Vontaze Burfict’s hit on Antonio Brown has now earned him a three game suspension and Brown still yet to be cleared to play you’d think Jones would be backtracking especially considering he’s a free agent and some image rehabilitation might help procure his next job.
Not quite as you see below.
Jones does say he’ll offer an apology if Brown doesn’t play this weekend but insists it’s almost a certainty he will. He also contends the hit was legal, a viewpoint that is not shared by really anyone at this point except for grumpy Bengals fans and Donald Trump.
The rest of the interview will air in a few hours (kudos to Showtime PR on turning this around). While it’s understandable for Jones to be upset of how the end of the game played out, I’m not sure doubling down on some of these opinions and thoughts is going to help him in his career or Bengals fans move on from the loss. On the flip side, it is a breath of fresh air that Jones kept it real unlike other athletes and coaches who typically are much more filtered with their thoughts.
