Fox Sports One hit a new milestone in the month of October, taking home their most-watched month in channel history due to playoff baseball and college football. The statistics, which were technically compiled between September 28th and October 25th, indicate that 47.8 million people watched at least six minutes of FS1 programming, besting October of 2014’s total of $47.6 million.
The highlights from the month were mostly fueled by playoff baseball, but college football, U.S. soccer and NASCAR contributed in the big ratings.
Ten of FS1’s postseason games brought in over two million viewers. The two most-watched shows of the month were playoff games, Astros-Royals ALDS Game 5 drew 5,944,000 while Blue Jays-Royals ALCS Game 6 attracted 5,626,000.
College football is having its best season ever on the channel, averaging 628,000 viewers per game which marks a 3% improvement over 2014 and a 34% increase over 2013.
The USA-Mexico game during the Concacaf Cup had over 1.5 million viewers, setting a new record for men’s soccer on FS1.
FS1 had a great month worth celebrating, but it’ll be interesting to see if they’ll be able to retain these numbers now that playoff baseball has wrapped up. Live events drive ratings (are you sick of us preaching that motto?) and FS1 will have a tough time sustaining numbers even close to these without Major League Baseball.
