Reboot Road House? The idea never seemed appealing. The 1989 film starring Patrick Swayze is a cult classic. Why remake something that doesn’t need to be remade?

But rebooting Road House might now be a bit more intriguing. Variety‘s Justin Kroll reports that Ronda Rousey is going to star in the movie. Is there anyone who doesn’t buy her as a bouncer hired to clean up and maintain order at the Double Deuce, a roadside bar in Missouri? (That’s where the original movie took place. No word on where the remake would be set.)

Rousey reached out to Swayze’s widow, seeking her approval before accepting the role. She got that blessing and now has what is sure to be the biggest role of her fledgling acting career. Rousey appeared in this year’s Furious 7 and Entourage, and had a previous role in Expendables 3. Come to think of it, she had good chemistry with Turtle in the Entourage movie. Maybe Jerry Ferrara could be cast in the Kelly Lynch love interest role.

The UFC star’s film career seems ready to explode. She will play herself in an upcoming biopic adaptation of her autobiography, My Fight/Your Fight. Rousey will also join Mark Wahlberg and Iko Uwais (The Raid) in Mile 22, an action film directed by Peter Berg (Lone Survivor, Battleship).

Additionally, she’s attached as the headliner in The Athena Project, based on Brad Thor’s thriller about an all-female team of Delta Force commandos. That one seems like potential franchise material if it’s a success. And speaking of franchises, Rousey is promoting herself for the role of Captain Marvel in an upcoming superhero film.

But would any of those roles be cooler than Dalton (presuming the character’s name stays the same), the badass who prefers to stay calm unless you push her too far. In that case, she’ll beat you senseless and may rip your throat out, if lethal force becomes necessary. How cool will it be to see Rousey do that on screen?
