On Monday, the NFL released a kooky schedule for Week 16 and it all depended on the results of the New York Football Giants at Miami Dolphins game on ESPN. Had the Giants lost, this is what the schedule would have been on Sunday, December 27 with Pittsburgh at Baltimore remaining in the primetime slot and Jacksonville at New Orleans moving from 1 p.m. ET to 4:05 p.m. ET:
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 27
CAROLINA AT ATLANTA | 1:00 PM (ET) | FOX |
DALLAS AT BUFFALO | 1:00 PM (ET) | FOX |
SAN FRANCISCO AT DETROIT | 1:00 PM (ET) | FOX |
CLEVELAND AT KANSAS CITY | 1:00 PM (ET) | CBS |
INDIANAPOLIS AT MIAMI | 1:00 PM (ET) | CBS |
NEW ENGLAND AT NEW YORK JETS | 1:00 PM (ET) | CBS |
NEW YORK GIANTS AT MINNESOTA | 1:00 PM (ET) | FOX |
HOUSTON AT TENNESSEE | 1:00 PM (ET) | CBS |
CHICAGO AT TAMPA BAY | 1:00 PM (ET) | FOX |
*JACKSONVILLE AT NEW ORLEANS | 4:05 PM (ET) | CBS |
GREEN BAY AT ARIZONA | 4:25 PM (ET) | FOX |
ST. LOUIS AT SEATTLE | 4:25 PM (ET) | FOX |
PITTSBURGH AT BALTIMORE | 8:30 PM (ET) | NBC |
One quirk would have been the Giants and the Jets playing at the same time which would have split the New York market once again.
But with the Giants defeating the Dolphins, there are wholesale changes to the schedule. First, Pittsburgh at Baltimore is being flexed right out of primetime and will go to 1 p.m. on CBS. Indianapolis at Miami moves from CBS to Fox, but remains at 1 p.m. Jacksonville at New Orleans still goes to 4:05 p.m. to give CBS a game in the late afternoon regional window. And finally to replace the Steelers-Ravens on NBC, the NFL moves the New York Giants at Minnesota game into primetime.
Got that? You need the schedule? We have it for you below and just like this week, we have a Saturday night game:
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 24
SAN DIEGO AT OAKLAND | 8:25 PM (ET) | NFLN |
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 26

This is one of the more complex flexes we’ve seen since the concept began in the 2006 season. At least things are complete and we await the next flex for Week 17. That will be announced during the Giants-Vikings game on NBC.
