NBC is bringing an Israeli sports comedy to American television. It’s called “Imported” and will involve an American family moving to London after one on their sons is signed to an English soccer team.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the comedy will be a “fish out of water” show with the American family adjusting to life in the U.K.
The Israeli version is about a man who realizes his dream for playing for Chelsea in the English Premier League and brings his father, brother and girlfriend with him to the U.K. to find out that things aren’t as he had dreamed.
There’s no word as to when the comedy will be seen on NBC. It’s still in the developmental stage and scripts have to be written. The Hollywood Reporter says NBC is looking for more family-friendly fare.
A former writer with The Late Show With David Letterman is writing the scripts for the American version of Imported. And at this time, there’s no one who’s been cast for the series and there’s no guarantee that the series will be picked up, but for now, NBC is going forward in hopes that it will have another hit show on its network when it finally hits the air.
