For the first time in my life we have a Triple Crown winner. Below American Pharoah pulls away late to make history as the first Triple Crown winner since 1978 (insert some crazy historical fact outlining how long ago that was). Larry Collmus certainly does well calling the historic moment.

Before that always novel scene of a jockey being interviewed on a moving horse via another person on a moving horse, we were treated to jockey Victor Espinoza muttering “Holy Shit”, pretty clearly and loudly, a usage of which is totally understandable given most of the American public would use it if they got an unexpected extra can of soda from a vending machine.

A big day for horse racing and one that probably meant a big day for NBC regardless of Espinoza being human in a historic moment. With NBC’s continued interest in the Triple Crown, the network has put itself good position to cash in on added interest in the sport.
