3. Allow the Bird and the Beard to call more important games
Ian Eagle and Dan Fouts received a promotion to the “B” team on the NFL on CBS, but they were assigned to the main 1 p.m. ET game during doubleheader weeks. Since we’re making some changes to CBS here, let’s allow them to call an occasional Thursday Night Football game as well as some late Sunday afternoon games.
The Bird and the Beard will call a divisional playoff game this season and that is a good thing. While we’re not advocating that Eagle and Fouts totally replace Jim Nantz and Phil Simms (although some fans in Denver would absolutely love this), we want more national exposure for Ian and Dan.
We can’t call Eagle and Fouts underrated anymore, but in this universe where we’re making changes, we are giving them their due by allowing them to call more national NFL games.
