The Golden State Warriors may have finally lost, but it doesn’t mean that their popularity in the Bay Area is any lower. During their 24-game winning streak to start the season, Comcast SportsNet Bay Area reaped the benefits of ratings, viewership and online consumption.
During the streak, the regional sports network saw the Warriors set ten of the highest-rated games for the team on CSNBA. In fact, the highest-rated Warriors game, the December 11th game against the Celtics became the second highest-game ever on the network just below the October 3, 2010 San Francisco Giants game which clinched the National League West Division crown.
Here are the Top Ten Warriors games all of which occurred during the streak:
- 12/11/15 @ Boston Celtics — 11.07
- 12/12/15 @ Milwaukee Bucks — 9.96
- 11/22/15 @ Denver Nuggets — 9.59
- 11/30/15 @ Utah Jazz — 9.33
- 12/05/15 @ Toronto Raptors — 9.21
- 12/6/15 @ Brooklyn Nets — 8.80
- 11/27/15 @ Phoenix Suns — 8.79
- 12/8/15 @ Indiana Pacers — 8.76
- 11/17/15 vs. Toronto Raptors — 8.65
- 11/28/15 vs. Sacramento Kings — 8.47
Thus far, the Warriors are averaging a 7.41 rating on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area which is up a whopping 97% from last year and it’s on a pace to be the highest-ever for the team on the network.
Pregame and postgame programming are also benefiting from the Warriors’ run as they’re up 49% and 142% respectively.
Online, fans who watch the Warriors through CSNBayArea.com and the NBC Sports Live Extra app have increased consumption by 788% from last season which is just amazing. People are finding the games online as well.
Viewers are watching CSN over ESPN and TNT when they have a choice to watch the local broadcast or the national telecast. Fans are choosing Comcast SportsNet over the national NBA television partners by 60% when they go head-to-head.
So the moral of the story is that fans like a winner and will flock to their TV’s, mobile devices, tablets and computers to watch.
