Last week, the news broke that Craig Sager would be returning home for good following his latest round of chemo. On Friday, Turner Sports confirmed that Sager would be working their Opening Night NBA broadcast of Pelicans-Warriors, the second half of a doubleheader with a Cavs-Bulls matchup.
Kevin Harlan will call the Cavs/Bulls telecast with analyst Reggie Miller and reporter David Aldridge, with Marv Albert providing play-by-play for Pelicans/Warriors with analyst Chris Webber and reporter Craig Sager.
This is great news. After Sager was forced to pull out of the NCAA Tournament last year and began undergoing more treatment for his leukemia, there were thoughts in the back of some of our minds as to whether or not Sager would ever be back courtside again. For him to be there for Opening Night is just awesome.
Here’s hoping Sager has a healthy year on the sidelines for Turner, loud jackets and all.
