Robert Flores and Adnan Virk are two of our favorite SportsCenter anchors. At the end of the 11 PM ET SportsCenter, the two took a rare analyst trek to the telestrator to break down in great detail a new vision of the Auburn band celebrating their victory over Alabama and playing the team's fight song. It was beautiful television. Their form on the telestrator was something that would make Mike Fratello proud.
But then, just as the performance was reaching its climactic crescendo, it went crashing into a pool of bitter tears as a quest went unfulfilled.
I was tempted to search for the mythical creature that resembled Happy Gilmore's caddy in the Auburn band, but this story is one that's best left with an open ending and the search ongoing. Maybe he's still out there somewhere in full marching band regalia reliving the greatest moment of his life that simply can't be confined to the limited nature of a SportsCenter telestration.
Truly a moment that will go down in Awful Announcing lore. On the bright side, Flores nailed the Three Amigos punchline at the end of the 12 PM ET hour when talking about the Mexican Olympic skier.
