I’ve never had a chance to interview anyone as unstable or unpredictable as Mike Tyson, which actually kind of sucks because I strangely feel it would be fun to wind up in a position like the one CP24’s Nathan Downer found himself in Wednesday afternoon.

The local Toronto news host was doing a live interview with Tyson, who is in town promoting his one-man show during the city’s film festival. Downer brought up the fact that Tyson’s support for mayor Rob Ford could be viewed as something that could hurt Ford’s re-election campaign, considering that Tyson is a convicted rapist.

It appears that rubbed Iron Mike the wrong way.

Downer did his best to take the high road before cutting the interview short. He then took to Twitter to apologize for Tyson’s language while stating that he holds no ill will toward him.

It’s never ideal when one of your hosts is called “a rat piece of s—” on live air, but between Ford’s never-ending circus and moments like these from his “supporters,” local stations like CP24 probably can’t complain.
