TNT’s Shaquille O’Neal has applied to become a reserve police officer. Repeat, TNT’s Shaquille O’Neal has applied to become a reserve police officer.

Now, this is not a mid-life career crisis for O’Neal. He’ll remain with Inside the NBA and still find ways to poke fun at Charles Barkley.

Last week, the former Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Laker, Miami Heat, Phoenix Sun and Boston Celtic attended a Doral City Council meeting. After taking pictures with the council members, Shaq then talked with the Doral police chief and applied to become a part of the law enforcement community.

He’ll undergo a background check and if he passes that, O’Neal will then have to go through various physical and psychological tests before being certified as a police officer.

This would not be the first time that Shaq has been a reserve police officer. He was with the Miami Beach police department in 2005, but is not with them now.

So if you visit Doral and see a rather large man staring you down, writing you a ticket, that could very well be Officer Shaq.
