Last week CBS pulled their theatrical opening featuring Rihanna and Don Cheadle for the debut of Thursday Night Football. This editorial decision was taken in light of the Ray Rice controversy and the network’s pregame coverage for the Steelers-Ravens game. The decision was probably a sensible one considering the hard news element of the pregame show and the fact that a planned comedic segment was also reportedly pulled.
Now that it’s Week 3, one would think it would be back to business as usual, right? Not so fast my friend!
Rihanna was, shall we say, not happy with CBS’s decision to yank her soundtrack from Thursday Night Football last week and had this message for the network.
CBS you pulled my song last week, now you wanna slide it back in this Thursday? NO, Fuck you! Y'all are sad for penalizing me for this.

The audacity…

Contractually speaking, I’m not sure if Rihanna can just send one angry tweet and have her song pulled from CBS for the rest of the season. That said, it’s going to be pretty awkward for the network to continue using her vocals if she’s going to rant about it to 37 million followers on Twitter every week.
It’s just another day in the life for the NFL. Hopefully Carrie Underwood and NBC never have a nasty public break-up.
UPDATE: CBS says they are “moving in a different direction” for their Thursday Night Football telecast open. I hear Hank Williams Jr. is available!
