Bob Cole is a name that, when uttered into Canadian ears, evokes childhood memories of the greatest hockey games of their lives. Memories that last a lifetime. Gold medal games, Stanley Cup Finals, and everything in between.
The man is an institution. If you don’t know his work, this tutorial’s been going around for the past week.
Anyway, there’s been worry up in the Great White North that Cole may either retire or be forced out by the impending Rogers monopoly. Every night, Canadians tweet, worried that their beloved play-by-play man is merely staving off retirement another day. Fear not, Canucks! As apparently Cole has found himself another year.
Not official yet…but tonight is NOT the great Bob Cole's last game. Hearing he's close to signing on with Rogers team for next season.

I’m sure that, while there were likely conversations about it, no one at Rogers wanted to be the person that let Bob Cole go out before he wanted to. With a new deal at Rogers, it appears set that he will be able to choose his retirement. That’s probably how it should be for a legend of his stature.
