Ray lewis’ ESPN tenure has been rather underwhelming thus far. The former Ravens LB and future Hall of Famer hasn’t been able to successfully translate the success of his playing days to television. His charisma made him a coveted television personality and ESPN offered him prominent roles on their biggest studio shows. Unfortunately for ESPN, there hasn’t been much substance to back up the theatrics. In fact, Lewis’ most memorable soundbyte came when talking about covering things up.
During their coverage of Monday Night Football last night, ESPN announced that analyst Ray Lewis had made the plunge and joined Twitter.
ESPN announced Lewis’ arrival on Twitter with the following tweet.
Welcome to @twitter @RayLewis. pic.twitter.com/rxrNgTe59Z

Of course you’d expect Lewis to be given a warm welcome with open arms on Twitter, right? Ummm… not so much.
The replies to Lewis’ arrival on the social media platform was met with a stab pun to tweet ratio of 2-1. As always, these are Real Tweets from Real People…

So @raylewis called some chick a dude on twitter. So what? People make mistakes sometimes. Cut him a break for once in his life.
