Former NFL wide receivers Michael Irvin and Cris Carter are both recovering drug addicts. Both have had their issues with cocaine during their playing careers. They both have spoken out about their successful recoveries and how they have tried to help others.

However, they have differed on various subjects and that includes Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon who was recently arrested on DWI charges in North Carolina. Carter says the Browns should drop Gordon for his own good. Irvin who is friends with Gordon disagrees and says the team should stick by him.

In an interview on The Dan Le Batard Show on WAXY in Miami, Irvin made it clear that he totally disagreed with Carter on this issue, then revealed the former Minnesota Vikings star went even further by telling Irvin’s wife to leave him in the midst of his problems. What?

“He said to my wife — he said to my wife –you know, Michael would never come out of this problem until you leave him. Till you leave him. For years, I’ve held it. I’ve never shared that with anybody. I’ve never in my life shared that with ANYBODY! I was so irked with Cris because he was out of line then. His ass is out of line now. He is out. of. line.”

When asked if he confronted Carter, Irvin said no:

“I never said that, I never told him that. Nope. Never confronted him with it because I know, just because he spoke it doesn’t make it reality and it wasn’t going to be my reality in that situation.”

You can hear the entire segment below:

That is a truly an amazing segment and what a revelation from Irvin! Now that this is out, one wonders if the next meeting between Carter and Irvin will be anything but cordial.
