John Oliver’s brilliant Last Week Tonight took a break on Sunday due to the Memorial Day holiday. That said, to tide fans over during the hiatus, he and his crew produced a small bit of content. They gave us a four-minute video predicting the headlines of the week in which he was gone.
The entire clip is funny, as most of Oliver’s show has been to date. There are a couple of sports observations within, including one about LeBron James and Miami basketball fans. The funniest observation he made was about the NFL and its relationship with the gay community.
I didn’t necessarily expect it when he premiered, but Last Week Tonight has done an excellent job in satirizing the sports world. It’s mostly been based in the NFL so far, but I hope they take shots at other areas. Let’s face it, there’s an endless amount of things to laugh at.
