“More electrifying than a hair dryer in a hot tub!”

“A cross between a rapier and a sledgehammer!”

“More elusive than Bernie Madoff!”

“Somewhere Antonio Banderas is smiling!”

Those are just a few of the gems from Ray Hudson of beIn Sports while calling El Clasico this weekend.  Barcelona won 4-3 at Real Madrid in an incredible game of football from the Santiago Bernabeu.  Lionel Messi scored a hat trick to lead Barcelona to victory in a game that saw the tide turn with Sergio Ramos’ sending off in the second half after Real Madrid led 3-2.

But the highlight for American viewers was the magisterial Scotsman, who continues to be an American television treasure.

That’s more quotables during 90 minutes of football than some sportswriters could muster in 90 years of their best one-liners.  If there was any way to get Ray Hudson and Bill Walton in the booth together to call something, anything, it would be the greatest event in the history of western civilization.
