Today, news broke that former NFL QB and current Fox Sports Live analyst and NBC Sports Radio personality Donovan McNabb was arrested. At first, the reason was unknown, and then TMZ broke it that the arrest was for a DUI.

Via Pro Football Talk:

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio confirmed in a statement that McNabb was booked in the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Detention facility on and was released from county jail after serving one day for a misdemeanor DUI charge.

Still unexplained is how McNabb managed to be arrested in December, arraigned in January, go through pre-trial conferences in February, have change-of-plea hearings in March and spend a day in jail in April without anyone in the media hearing a thing about it until today.

PFT makes an excellent point. In the year 2014 with the 24/7 news cycle and things going viral immediately if not sooner, how are we just finding out about this? I’m sure McNabb’s day in jail involved doling out fantasy football advice and trying to justify all his Pro Bowl selections.

For what it’s worth, Fox Sports does not plan to discipline him:

We hope this was a lesson learned, but DUI’s among prominent sports figures are so common, we (sadly) will not hold our breath.
