The Los Angeles Lakers put forth a game effort on Christmas Day, but were defeated 101-95 in their seemingly annual LeBron v Kobe X-Mas clash.
Of course, the Lakers were without their half of the superstar equation this year with Kobe Bryant injured once again. The franchise is in a desperate state of limbo right now, holding onto the past with Bryant while not yet being able to totally rebuild for the future. With Jodie Meeks, Shawne Williams, Xavier Henry, Wes Johnson and company these aren't your pappy's Lakers at 13-16 on the season. At least it beats what's happening in New York though, right!
So with all of that, who did the NBA promote as the Lakers' main attraction for their Christmas Day game on their Instagram account?
Nick Young. And all his swag. With Kobe on the shelf, he's now the face of the franchise.
Young actually had 20 points to lead the Lakers yesterday and played well in the second half, but unfortunately there were no 360 airballed layup attempts to give us something truly memorable on Christmas Day. If the Lakers get another prime Christmas Day slot next year, here's hoping we get a patented Nick Young highlight if he's still the Lakers' main attraction.
