The Houston Astros have reached a new low, a week after drawing a 0.043 rating for Saturday's game with the Angels. Sunday's Astros-Indians game drew a 0.0 rating, meaning that exactly zero of the 581 Nielsen households in the Houston area watched the game on CSN Houston.
Saying that no one watched the game, which went head on with the Texans' 30-9 blowout loss to the World Champion Baltimore Ravens, is a bit of a misleading statement, considering that *someone* probably watched the game. (I assume.) But none of the Nielsen homes watched the game, which is how viewership locally and nationally is gauged.
Sunday's game was really just a perfect storm of negativity for the Astros. They were playing a team that has no real national appeal in the Indians, the game was on the still-hated CSN Houston which almost nobody in the area can get, the team is still in rebuilding mode, and they were going head to head with the Texans, fresh off of two AFC South titles and being matched up with the Super Bowl Champions in Week 3. I wouldn't be surprised if there were other markets where something like this ended up happening on Sunday (Miami perhaps?), but because of the saga surrounding CSN Houston, it's easiest to just keep kicking the Astros while they're down.
