Some people (okay most people) consider Hawk Harrelson to be one of MLB’s most notorious announcers because of his unabashed, unapologetic and 100% over the top blatant homerism for the Chicago White Sox.

Right now Hawk is REALLY, REALLY sad. The Chi Sox are not only in the AL Central basement right now, but have the fourth worst record in the MLB at 32-47. Only two teams, Miami (29) and Houston (30), have fewer wins. According to Baseball Prospectus, the team has a 0.1% chance of making the playoffs.

Chris Sale has been robbed of like, 25 wins because the offense can’t get its act together, and the other night, on June 28th, vs. the Indians, the score at the top of the 9th was 8-5 in favor of the Sox until Addison Reed blew the save and capped off his horrific performance by giving up a home run to Nick Swisher, making the score 9-8 Indians, which would stick. Here is Hawk’s call of that home run.

He just sounds so dejected. If he were 9, I would want to buy him an ice cream cone. With the way the Sox have been playing though, I have a feeling we have a lot of these sad, bitter calls ahead of us, and it is going to be a looooooooooooong season of Hawk Harrelson schadenfreude.

H/T @the_bonnfire for the clip and excellent headline
