Boxing legend Mike Tyson, who mixed some profanity in to his appearance on Fox Sports Live on Monday night, is going to be featured on Fox's Being documentary series starting next month. The series will premiere on Fox's broadcast channel on September 22nd either before or after the day's NFL game (depending on your local broadcast window), and will continue on September 24th at 10:30 PM on Fox Sports 1.
Cameras followed Tyson across the country as he performed his acclaimed one man show, and recorded meetings Tyson had over the course of the tour with Evander Holyfield and Muhammad Ali. Tyson also visited the prison in Indianapolis that he was incarcerated in, as well as his childhood neighborhoods in Brooklyn and the Catskills.
The transformation of Tyson over the last 20 years has been stunning. This is a guy who was convicted of rape, accused of being abusive towards ex-wife Robin Givens, sentenced to a year of jail for assault during a road rage incident, and bit Evander Holyfield's ear off. Yet despite all of the negative incidents in his past, the tide has turned so dramatically on Tyson in recent years. His one man show has gotten rave reviews. He finally beat Glass Joe in his own NES game (the legendary Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!), and was celebrated (however tongue in cheek as it may have been) for it after initially revealing that he couldn't even beat the game's first opponent.
Now, he'll have a documentary about him on Fox Sports 1. Regardless about how you feel about his transformation (and for as shocking as it's been, it's been a little disgusting), you have to admit that the man has led a fascinating life and that he's not running from his demons anymore.
