Jon Gruden has hinted again that he wants to return to coaching, so perhaps that's why we're seeing an even peppier, crazier Gruden in the Monday Night Football booth.  During last night's Seahawks-Rams game in St. Louis, Gruden was in rare form even by his lofty standards.  It started before the game when he sang a tribute to Robert Quinn.  Video via Kissing Suzy Kolber:

And that was only the beginning, a Redditor compiled some of the best Grudenisms from last night's game:

"He should voicemail get open!"

"Mike, the best band to ever come out of Seattle was, of course, Pearl Jam. And that's what I expect the Seahawks to do – just jam it up the middle."

"The Seahawks defense has to go balls deep to win this game."

"I bet you like sitting at red lights."

“I just wanna see some football man”

"Ultra high speed slow mo"

"Mike, did you ever see the movie 'Cast Away?' In that movie, Tom Hanks' only friend was a ball named Wilson. In this game, Russell Wilson's only friend is a football."

Ultra high speed slow mo has to go up there with "that's a beautiful banana" for one of my all-time favorite Grudenisms.

On a serious note though – doesn't Jon Gruden and his zaniness make football games more fun? Imagine trying to suffer through MNF the last two weeks and two pretty bad games (even though last night went down to the final play) with Phil Simms, Dan Dierdorf, Tony Siragusa, or a host of the other blase NFL analysts that reside on networks today.  Gruden has more personality than many of them combined.  Sure he's a little off-kilter and talks about the Road Runner for weird analogies and obsesses over the size of Russell Wilson's hands for uncomfortable periods of time… but he's informative and entertaining.  What else do we want from a game analyst?  Once he does return to coaching, we're going to miss Jon Gruden when he's gone.
