John McEnroe has shaken many hands in his career. As one of the most decorated tennis players of all-time, the amount of hands shaken by the 54-year old after his matches surely totaled in the thousands. In his more recent incarnation as a broadcaster, one would have to think he has shaken his fair share of hands before and after interviews.

Well, as it turns out, he's a little out of practice.

That's Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, on the left chatting with another former tennis star, Virginia Wade, at Wimbledon.

McEnroe extends his hand, apparently oblivious to the fact that the Duchess and Wade are talking. In fairness to McEnroe, he and the Duchess are making eye contact when he reaches out, but then she ignores him and turns to address Wade.

It's a simple misunderstanding, or perhaps an act of aggresion by the United Kingdom. Either way, it has to be a little embarrassing for McEnroe to be shunned by royalty.

He does eventually get her attention, and the two public figures finally complete a proper handshake.

The BBC 5 Live radio crew had some fun revisiting the incident with McEnroe. Video, courtesy of the station, is here.

It's the second time this week that the American tennis legend has raised eyebrows at Wimbledon, and we'd be surprised if it were the last.
