Jay Cutler is not known for being much of a charmer, which may be part of the reason he wound up on the list of most hated athletes

Somehow, he is still engaged to former MTV star Kristin Cavallari and the couple will finally exchange vows in the near future. Cavallari will have an E! special on March 10th and talks about her relationship with Cutler in an interview to be aired then. Is there any more awkward fit between celebrity and network than Jay Cutler and E!? Hey, at least the celebrity wedding can't go worse than it did for Kris Humphries.

With Cutler about to tie the knot – one would think he must possess some redeeming qualties. Being romantic, however, is definitely not one of them.

Cavallari also told E! on Wednesday how Cutler proposed (keep in mind this is for the second time. Their 2011 engagement ended over the summer before they reconciled and spawned a mini-Jay).

Behold, ladies, and try not to be jealous:

Cavallari and Cutler have been engaged since November 2011. If you recall, the two first announced in April of that year they were preparing to tie the knot after about 10 months together. Unfortunately, they ended things three months later.

The couple obviously reconciled, and soon after, were once again eyeing a walk down the aisle. So did Cutler actually propose again?

"Yeah, kind of," said Cavallari. "It was so silly. I was in the airport, leaving Chicago. We had just spent however many days together and we were texting and somehow it came up, like, 'Oh, shall we get married?' We're like, 'Yeah, OK.' And then he sent my ring in the mail. So I actually had my ring sitting at home for a couple of weeks before I put it on."

Just so I'm clear, Cutler proposed over text message and MAILED her the ring? And then she didn't even put it on right away? That's a relationship that has some staying power right there, folks. I can't wait to see how that love story is told during their reality wedding event of the season.

I'm not even sure I can PROCESS this. Second proposal or seventh, shouldn't there be a little more thought put into a life-altering event? Call me old-fashioned, but I think something like that should happen in person or at least over Skype.

Cavallari should have just lied. Cutler isn't deserving of being the 4th least liked athlete in America… but yea, this little anecdote about his chivalrous side isn't going to help his popularity at all. If more women happen to vote in the next poll, Jay may be going straight to the head of the class.
