We have a new contender in the race for AA's #1 Announcing Gaffe of 2012. As Marty Reid was welcoming viewers to Saturday's Nationwide Series race at Indianapolis on Saturday, he attempted to introduce his broadcast partners – Dale Jarrett and Andy Petree. Normaly, this goes off without a hitch. Normally, it's not too difficult to remember who you're working a broadcast with. Alas, it's not a shoo-in for Marty Reid. Watch as he struggles to reach into the deepest layers of his subconscious before emerging with the name of Dale Jarrett before flat giving up when he can't think of Andy Petree's name. It's worth noting that Petree has worked in the booth for ESPN since they acquired NASCAR rights in 2007.
The best part of the entire video is Andy Petree's name flashing in the graphic below the three men as Marty Reid forgets his name. Just beautiful timing.
I know who you are! You're… hmmm… the… uhh… the third agency of government I'd do away with… uhh… oops.
