The Sprint Cup series is in Sonoma this weekend and the series is still buzzing about Dale Earnhardt Jr. ending his four year winless streak last week in Michigan.  On SportsCenter this morning, ESPN NASCAR reporter Shannon Spake filed a report from Sonoma and naturally discussed Earnhardt and his title chances.  Everything seemed normal until the chyron gods turned against her.  I’ll let reader Rob, who sent in this snafu, explain.

“What you can’t see here is that Shannon Spake’s name was originally in the graphic.  A few seconds in, her name and byline disappeared and were replaced by the text you’ll see in the screenshot.”

“Generic text goes here” may be my favorite snafu.  Think about the next logical step though.  If ESPN can get reporters’ names to disappear, maybe we could have “Generic Play By Play Guy Goes Here” replace Chris Berman in September.  One can hope.
