While ESPN does their usual superb job in covering global soccer with this summer’s European Championship, we do miss the completely over-the-top and lovable antics of one of the most excitable, unpredictable annnouncers on the planet – Gol TV’s Ray Hudson.  Since we don’t have Ray’s trademark magisterial commentary to spice up the Euros even more, thankfully Slate came up with the next best thing.  Ray Hudson’s commentary set to miniature robots playing soccer!  Watch as the folks at Slate are able to splice together some of the best clips of Ray Hudson and his Gol TV broadcast partner Phil Schoen and set it to these little mechanical geniuses trying their hand at the beautiful game.  I’m guessing the one that’s flopping and falling on the ground is supposed to be Pepe.

Of course, the only thing missing from this video is a cameo from Peter Crouch…
