Really weird item from Media Week this evening. Apparently ESPN is really trying to beef up it’s “Outdoor” content, and in doing so, has started a classified section for campers. For the low low price of $6.95 per month you can get multiple ads to sell your used tent and hunting gear!

ESPN has partnered with online classifieds vendor Raceway Media to launch a free, consumer-targeted classifieds section on ESPNOutdoors.com.

Both individual users and small businesses can log onto ESPNOutdoors.com to sell or shop for items such as ATVs, boats and camping tents. Using Raceway’s technology platform, the site has established three classified categories to start: Hunting, Fishing and Camping. Vendors can post two ads per month for free, or multiple ad packages are available starting at $6.95 per month.

Besides classifieds, the two companies said they will collaborate on display advertising appearing within the new section. In addition, Raceway has committed to promote ESPNOutdoors.com Classifieds on its other partner sites.

That’s just odd. I didn’t know that there was such a big market for used camping equipment. You really do learn something new everyday, don’t you?
