Well after hearing Kornheiser’s fourth quarter apology last night, I decided to run back through the game and find the original “laundry” quote. Here are both that one and the apology spliced together….

“I said something before which I shouldn’t have said, I apologize for it. Not my first mistake, undoubtedly won’t be my last, but a 100% apology.”- Tony Kornheiser
Now personal feelings about Tony Kornheiser’s MNF work aside, the fact that the comment was potentially offensive never even crossed my mind. I also understand after the fact that it could be taken as such and that was probably not something you wanted to joke about during a Hispanic Heritage Month spot. In the end, I really think this was a case of Kornheiser being his unfunny on-air self and not saying anything inflammatory, so hopefully he’ll get a pass on this one.
