I really don’t mind promos and commercials that repeat themselves as much as some (outside of the March Madness ones), but :30 spots that combine TBS and Applebee’s might do the trick. Starting May 5th, TBS will begin shooting these spots at a Georgia Applebee’s and they will include Chip Caray, Mitch Williams (!?), and a fan talking about various topics. Via Mediaweek….

The spots, devised by the Turner Sports creative team, will be shot at an Applebee’s location in Suwanee, Ga., just outside Atlanta. Unlike regular 30-second commercials, these units will contain specially themed content, featuring TBS MLB play-by-play announcer Chip Carey [sic], former Major Leaguer Mitch Williams and a fan discussing and debating assorted baseball topics like who the best all-time MLB home run hitter is. The spots will make no mention of Applebee’s food but capture the interior décor of the location as the conversations are taking place.

I guess it’s good that they won’t be commenting on A-Bee’s food, but when you hear the total of different spots I know you’re going to get pissed. You ready? Any guesses?

15!

Fifteen different spots of an Announcer, an ex-MLBer, and a fan (actor) talking about Baseball. Good lord. Now that is going to be annoying. The spots will come at the beginning of TBS’ coverage so make sure you wait until about 1:06pm to change to the games.
