One of the greatest pro wrestling tropes is “villains troll fans over local sports team.”  When an athlete from said local sports team is present in the front row, it’s usually a good sign that they’re going to get involved in the show.  That was the case last night at WWE Raw in Manchester, England as Man United striker Wayne Rooney became a star of the show.

Rooney was taunted by King Barrett and Sheamus, with the highlight maybe being Sheamus telling Rooney he’s no Gary Neville.  Rooney eventually slapped Barrett, causing Sheamus to lose to Cesaro via outside distraction in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Tournament.

Honestly, it’s just refreshing to see that Rooney still does in fact know how to hit the target.
