When Will Ferrell hijacked the Cactus League in mid-March — appearing in five games, playing nine different positions and suiting up for 10 teams in total — the whirlwind stunt was geared toward raising awareness and money for charity. But it was also understood that Ferrell’s tour of Arizona spring training stops would live on in a Funny or Die special to be shown on HBO titled Ferrell Takes the Field.

Well, the time has arrived and the film of Ferrell’s baseball odyssey is now ready to be shared with the people. HBO released a teaser for Ferrell Takes the Field on Monday. Take a look.

At 35 seconds, this is very much a teaser with only quick clips and glimpses of Ferrell’s assorted stints with the Cubs, Reds, Dodgers, Diamondbacks and Padres. But with the comedian and actor mic’d up, there promises to be plenty of hilarity from his interactions with players, coaches and fans. We’re guessing (hoping) that all the good stuff wasn’t used up in this preview.

Ferrell Takes the Field premieres Saturday, Sept. 12 at 10 p.m. ET on HBO. And before tuning in, you might want to check out Tim Livingston’s scouting report of Ferrell and his Cactus League performance for The Outside Corner.
