SNL’s season premiere featured a parody of CNN’s State of the Union with Candy Crowley in which Ray Lewis (Kenan Thompson) and Shannon Sharpe (Jay Pharoah) spoke about the NFL’s recent scandals. Chris Pratt took the place of Roger Goodell.

The segment was good, not great, but it did deliver a few laughs. Lewis continually danced around the topic of legal trouble while Sharpe sounded more like a parody of Bill Cosby than anything else. Sharpe’s bow tie suddenly increasing in size and Goodell deciphering the league’s new message about fighting four women at the same time are pretty solid, but you can tell the season is young as the cast members stumbled over their lines and some of the jokes were a bit too telegraphed.
