On Monday, the Longhorn Network — ESPN’s 24-hour network dedicated to University of Texas athletics — launched a series of ads featuring a number of the school’s coaches and famous alumni.

The best of the bunch is probably this commercial starring Roger Clemens (who pitched for Texas from 1981 to 1983), who is apparently unclear on the concept of a dunk tank. Or at least no one was willing to tell the big right-hander exactly how these events are supposed to work.

“Everybody’s getting wet today. Everybody!”

In watching the ad, it’s not difficult to imagine that Clemens wasn’t doing much acting in this one. I’m guessing he relished the opportunity to pump fastball after fastball at the target and dunk the poor people who thought they’d get a shot at The Rocket. You know, maybe the director of the commercial was supposed to tell Clemens that he was supposed to get in the tank, only to go back behind the camera and let the MLB legend do what he wanted.

Texas football coach Charlie Strong and basketball coach Shaka Smart can be seen in another of “The 41st Acre” series of commercials for The Longhorn Network. Former football stars Colt McCoy and Jordan Shipley are featured in two other ads.
