Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is likely to attract a crowd wherever he goes. But in the SportsCenter offices, where pro athletes (in uniform) are routinely walking the hallways, Gronk might need something more to stand out. Flashing some Super Bowl championship jewelry might do the trick, as we see in the latest “This is SportsCenter” commercial.

It seems natural to wonder if athletes and coaches really wear their championship rings in public. They’re gaudy and clunky, and honestly don’t appear to be terribly comfortable to wear. But among the places or settings in which one would be worn — visiting recruits, coaches seminars, Radio Row at the Super Bowl, or the film room at Jon Gruden’s QB Camp — the SportsCenter offices would probably be appropriate.

I mean, just look at Stan Verrett, Neil Everett and Kenny Mayne gush over Gronkowski’s bling. Although as it turns out, Gronk was probably wearing a ringer, rather than an actual Super Bowl ring. Those SportsCenter guys sniffed it out immediately. Can’t fool them (even with Gronk’s beautiful story about getting the ring). Especially when the ring looks more like a coaster.
