New Baseball Hall of Fame inductees (and current MLB TV analysts) Pedro Martinez and John Smoltz will be featured on next week’s episode of MLB Network Presents, airing at 9 PM on Tuesday.

This episode will feature behind the scenes footage of Martinez in the Dominican Republic following his election to the Hall of Fame, and features interviews with Pedro and his wife, Carolina.

The Smoltz portion of the show was filmed last week in New York, and will be centered around Matt Vasgersian interviewing Smoltz about his career. Given Smoltz’s reputation as a great interview, I’m sure that this will live up to expectations.

Unfortunately, the final MLB Network Presents episode of the winter airs on February 10th. Based on what my DVR is telling me, it looks like that episode will focus on Billy Bean (not the A’s GM), a former outfielder with the Tigers, Dodgers, and Padres who was the second MLB player to come out. Bean was also named MLB’s first-ever Ambassador for Inclusion last summer.

I really enjoyed the series this winter, and hope that MLB makes it a regular thing. There is no shortage of fantastic stories throughout the history of this game to spotlight, and I’d welcome any series that brings stories like this to the forefront of our consciousness.
