The final episode of MLB Network Presents this winter will air at 9 PM on Tuesday, and profiles a forgotten man in baseball history – Billy Bean. No, not the Oakland Athletics GM – MLB’s first-ever Ambassador for Inclusion, and one of two current or former MLB players to come out as gay.

Well, the trailer is fantastic, and this seems like it’s going to be a fantastic end to the series for the offseason. There will be plenty of interviews in this series, including openly gay MLB umpire Dale Scott, openly gay former NBA player Jason Collins, Bean’s parents, and several of his former teammates.

Two segments of the feature also seem like they’ll be quite emotional.

In one segment, Bean speaks in-depth about being sent down to the Minor Leagues on the same day his partner died in 1995, only to find solace in Flannery, his Triple-A manager, despite Bean keeping his personal life a secret. Later in the show, Bean describes how a meeting with his father and openly gay former Marine staff sergeant and Purple Heart recipient Eric Alva helped strengthen Bean’s relationship with his dad, also a former Marine.

It looks like this isn’t going to be some fluffed up version of Bean’s life, and that will make it even more of a necessary watch for sports fans.
