When a player suffers a gruesome injury on the field, outlets should try to use a little discretion in using a picture or video of the injury in their coverage.
The Opelika-Auburn News didn’t bother with that discretion on Sunday. Here’s what the front page of Sunday’s sports section looked like.

Yep – they used a picture of Ole Miss receiver Laquon Treadwell breaking his leg to celebrate Auburn’s big victory on Saturday. There were dozens, if not hundreds, of pictures at their disposal, and they choose one of the most graphic ones they can find.
The paper responded on Sunday evening by claiming the picture “tells the story” of the biggest play of the game, and said if they could do it again, they’d change the “Finding A Way” headline.
