Dick Stockton is an all-time great announcer.  Let’s put that out there as a qualifier for what needs to be said next.

We’re going on several years now where he is off the pace for what should be the standards for a national network televising an NFL game.  Just take this play for example, where Stockton calls a non-existent fumble, and non-existent recovery for the wrong team, on a Jameis Winston scramble.

There are plenty of young, up-and-coming announcers that deserve a shot calling an NFL game, but this is another example of the backwards broadcasting hierarchy that inhibits fans from getting a better product.
