On Wednesday, Fran Tarkenton was interviewed on CNN to discuss the Patriots Ballghazi/Deflategate/whatever you want to call it scandal that’s taking the sporting world by storm leading into the Super Bowl.

Tarkenton immediately went off the rails, and instead of talking about whether or not the deflated balls had an impact on the game, he started ranting about PEDs.

Well, he’s got a point. PEDs are still a major issue in the NFL, and it’s simply bizarre that the league and media instead choose to focus on seemingly trivial issues like Marshawn Lynch grabbing himself to celebrate a touchdown, Lynch being evasive with the media, minuscule uniform customizations, and the Patriots deflating footballs.

But hey, until there’s a major government probe, we can ignore PEDs. Until a player dies on the field, we can ignore concussions. Right now, we need to focus on the issues truly plaguing the NFL – sponsorship revenue, the media, and the tens of millions of people watching at home that might get offended at something outside the box.
