NFL: Cleveland Browns at Buffalo Bills

Time is running out in 2014, but congrats go to Sean Kane of CSN Philly for just squeaking in under the wire for what may be the HOTTEST SPORTS TAKE of 2014.  You see, he’s got it all figured out.  He has the key that unlocks the mystery to the struggles of quarterbacks like Johnny Manziel and Jimmy Clausen and even Joey Harrington in the NFL.

It’s all in a name apparently.  These QBs need to “grow up” and drop the childish “y.”  It should strictly be John and Jim from now on.

This is the NFL.  That stands for National Football League.  You just don’t walk in on Day 1 in the National Football League and expect to be taken seriously with some kind of school-yard, grade school name.  These are grown men, John and Jim, not your recess buddies.  You come in with a name like Jimmy, and you’re going to get laughed out of the building in the National Football League.

Guys like Jimmy Graham, Jimmy Johnson, Jimmy Smith could never make it in the grown up world of the National Football League, right?

There aren’t any Johnnys in the Hall of Fame either, kids.  So grow up.  Well… except for maybe this guy.  He did ok with a name like “Johnny.”
