ESPN’s NFL Countdown discussed Adrian Peterson and the fact the Minnesota Vikings were deactivating him following his indictment for injuring a child. The topic struck a chord with former Vikings receiver Cris Carter who took a few moments to reveal some information about his own upbringing.

Carter states that his mother did the best she could while raising seven children, but he now knows that she made some mistakes and some of the things she did was wrong. He reiterates that you can’t beat a kid to make them do what you want and that he applauds the Vikings for taking Peterson off the field.

It was a rare emotional and honest scene from an NFL pregame show.
