NBA on TNT analyst Charles Barkley’s outspokenness is one of his major draws.  Sir Charles is known not just for his strong opinions on basketball, but on all things in society.  Barkley will always tell you exactly what he’s thinking, no matter the subject.

In an appearance on 97.5 The Fanatic in Philadelphia that is now making the viral rounds, that subject was Ferguson and the black community.  He called the looters in Ferguson “scumbags” while also discussing policing in minority neighborhoods and calling out the media’s role in the controversy.

Barkley has drawn much criticism for his remarks, even from former Olympian John Carlos… but he’s also drawn support from some corners of the internet his strong words as well.  In such a hyper-polarized case, it’s no surprise that someone with Barkley’s forthrightness and willingness to speak out has stepped into the fire.  Whether or not you agree with him, it’s those traits that have given him such a prominent platform in his post-playing days.

A sit-down interview with Barkley will also air this afternoon at 2 PM ET on CNN.
