When Bob Costas is trending on Twitter, either he has pink eye, has made another patented “Get Off My Lawn” Sunday Night Football halftime commentary, has made some comment on a nationally syndicated radio show, or has crushed someone on a game broadcast. On Friday it was the latter. During the Chicago Cubs-St. Louis Cardinals game on MLB Network, Cubs pitcher Pedro Strop came in and basically stunk up the joint.

Strop threw 18 pitches and instead of getting the job done, threw gasoline on the fire by giving up a home run, hitting a batter, walking another and only getting one man out. It led to an embarrassing hook by manager Joe Maddon.

This angered Costas to the point that he wondered as Strop was pointing to the sky, if the pitcher would ask “some departed relative for forgiveness for this atrocious performance.” Wow.

Maybe Bob was angry over not being served the media dinner at Busch Stadium, but whatever put him into a bad mood, he certainly took it out on Strop.
