We’re starting to see the waves ripple out from the incredible 2015 Women’s World Cup and triumph by the USWNT.  For the first time ever, the hugely successful FIFA video game will put a female soccer player on the cover.  World Cup champ Alex Morgan gets the honors for the US version of the video game alongside Barcelona star Lionel Messi.

Via EA Sports:

Dressed in her USWNT kit, she joins our global cover athlete, FC Barcelona’s Lionel Messi. Although only 26 years-old, Alex has quite the pedigree. Since joining the national team in 2010, she has made 91 appearances with 52 goals. In addition to her recent World Cup medal, she won gold at the 2012 London Olympics, was 2012 US Soccer athlete of the year and a finalist for FIFA World Player of the Year.

But Morgan’s appearance isn’t all.  In the Canadian and Australian version of the game, Christine Sinclair and Stephanie Catley will be on the cover alongside Messi.  While the historic covers are great, I’m kinda sad we can’t make room for this too.
