Always make sure you charge your dictaphone before a Claudio Ranieri press conference!
Ranieri was an extremely good sport, laughing and pretending to reveal all his secrets into the dead recorder. He seemed absolutely delighted to have caught a writer in this mildly embarrassing situation.
Leicester, the defending Premier League champions, are off to a rough start this season, most recently drawing with mediocre Middlesborough, so it would be easy to forgive Ranieri for being snippy, but instead he was downright jovial.
Still, it’s best to check the battery on your recording before you put it up at the dais.
